Seriously? Where do I start? As stupid as this metaphor is, it's pretty apt. A fish or a shark or whatever it's going to be able to do anything against humans wanting to build a strip mall. And we can't do anything against people who can erase your memories and use your lives for entertainment. In a scenario you have an option to escape, you use it. Going back to 'save the pond' is just asking to be paved over yourself.
