Drank live

Who: whoever
Where: lobby
When: like a half hour after the game starts

[would you like to drink? Codex has an inkling you might like to drink.]

[he has the usual menu out, though the prices have gone up a bit:

All Drinks: 25 points

He has his deck of cards nearby on the table being used as a bar, though, so he is in play.

He speaks into the camera]

If anyone would like to come down to the lobby for drinks while they discuss the game, I'll be here for a few hours.

[Feel free to use an overflow post for the game, reply to Codex's top level (or another members of Baritones if they appear) to buy a drink]

[giggles]

Didn't what...?
rootoflove: (too little too late creepy)

[personal profile] rootoflove 2019-01-26 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
There's only one way to be completely and utterly sure that someone is dead, right...? So you...

[deep breath]

You damaged the bodies in some way that no one could possibly survive.

[personal profile] thinkoutsidethebox 2019-01-26 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Correct. Of course, if they really had been dead to start with it would only have been corpse mutilation... unfortunately, they were pretending.

[offers the card: "Once killed five people and sawed their heads off with a kitchen knife."]
rootoflove: (too little too late creepy)

[personal profile] rootoflove 2019-01-27 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
You call yourself a detective, yet you'd stoop to murder yourself... despicable.

[taking the card though]
thinkoutsidethebox: (m72)

[personal profile] thinkoutsidethebox 2019-01-28 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I wasn't officially the detective at the time.
rootoflove: (please do.)

[personal profile] rootoflove 2019-01-28 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
That doesn't make it any better.
thinkoutsidethebox: (m73)

[personal profile] thinkoutsidethebox 2019-01-28 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
Obviously, since they weren't actually dead, it wasn't a proper mystery in the first place, either.
rootoflove: (they said they'd call)

[personal profile] rootoflove 2019-01-28 03:55 am (UTC)(link)
...What do you mean? There can't be fake bodies in a mystery?
thinkoutsidethebox: (m167)

[personal profile] thinkoutsidethebox 2019-01-28 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
There can be fake bodies, but there must be a real one for it to be a real mystery. Van Dine's 7th. There can be no crime without a corpse.
rootoflove: (Seriously. Write me.)

[personal profile] rootoflove 2019-01-28 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
I have no idea what that means.
thinkoutsidethebox: (m42)

[personal profile] thinkoutsidethebox 2019-01-28 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
It's one of Van Dine's rules of mysteries. There's a library here, have you really not even read that much?
rootoflove: (I just smile and say 'compared to what?')

[personal profile] rootoflove 2019-01-28 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
I... haven't thought to read about mysteries in particular.
thinkoutsidethebox: (m17)

[personal profile] thinkoutsidethebox 2019-01-28 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
Really...? It might be useful for interpreting your own memories.
rootoflove: (We all got it comin kid.)

[personal profile] rootoflove 2019-01-28 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
There's not much to interpret in the only memory I have so far.
thinkoutsidethebox: (m12)

[personal profile] thinkoutsidethebox 2019-01-28 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
Is that so? Well, I'm sure that will change. What was it about?
rootoflove: (Follow your horrible little heart!)

[personal profile] rootoflove 2019-01-28 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
I entered a room and murdered several people.
thinkoutsidethebox: (m36)

[personal profile] thinkoutsidethebox 2019-01-28 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
...

And you don't think there's anything to interpret?
rootoflove: since last easter? (did she think we forgot)

[personal profile] rootoflove 2019-01-28 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
The only mystery there is why I would do such a thing, and I doubt interpretation is going to be enough to provide that answer.
thinkoutsidethebox: (m73)

[personal profile] thinkoutsidethebox 2019-01-28 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
It's true that you're unlikely to be able to solve it based on one scene. But it would certainly give you more hints than you'd have otherwise.
rootoflove: (because i need an excuse to choose me)

[personal profile] rootoflove 2019-01-28 06:07 am (UTC)(link)
Do you think you'd be able to solve it?
thinkoutsidethebox: (m56)

[personal profile] thinkoutsidethebox 2019-01-28 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
Your motive...? I intend to. Perhaps not based on a singular scene, but I won't let that remain unsolved.
rootoflove: Seriously? (I would die without you?)

[personal profile] rootoflove 2019-01-28 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
...

But you were unable to solve it based on six whole games before, weren't you?
thinkoutsidethebox: (m36)

[personal profile] thinkoutsidethebox 2019-01-28 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
........

I was only personally a participant in two. And there were extenuating circumstances that means my attention wasn't focused where it should have been.
rootoflove: (They probably don't!)

[personal profile] rootoflove 2019-01-28 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
Such a supposedly great detective, yet you have to resort to petty excuses? My.
thinkoutsidethebox: (m75)

[personal profile] thinkoutsidethebox 2019-01-30 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
[Grinds her teeth as her mouth turns into a grimace.]

I won't deny it was a pathetic showing. Once I had time to think properly, many things became a lot clearer. But that just means I'm more dedicated to redeeming myself now. I'll solve every part of the mystery, even if it means tearing apart every memory you get.
