VID: Pony Pals
Who: Amaranth, Cardigan, and you
Where: vid room
When: Day 80, early evening
[ Why hello, Faukyo, it’s time for… horses. Yes, though some of you may have forgotten, and others might wish they could forget, the stables did in fact win… but that’s not where Amaranth and Cardigan are right now.
Instead, they’ve used the vid room to conjure up something that looks a bit like a fairytale version of a castle courtyard—complete with old stone archways wound with briar roses—along with two very unit-appropriate horses:
With Amaranth, there is a white-grey mare, mane and tail grown long and braided with ferns and her namesake flowers; currently, she is using a currycomb to care for her virtual horse.
Cardigan, for their part, is currently astride a suitably knightly black warhorse, which has been outfitted with medieval-style barding.
Amaranth speaks first, beginning with a smile and a polite bow. ]
Good evening, everyone.
Since the most recent game was hard for so many of us, Cardigan and I thought this could be a good opportunity to share our knowledge of horses in the hopes that more people might be able to relax and enjoy the new stables.
[ She cedes the floor to Cardigan, next. Cardigan tips their head in thanks, chivalrously. ]
Thank you, Amaranth. Horses might be intimidating in stature, but they're gentle and intelligent and easy to get along with. Amaranth and I have worked with all the horses in the stable and they're all really calm and friendly. Today, we'll be going over the basics of riding and taking care of a horse so you can feel confident approaching them. Either of us would be happy to give first-hand lessons, too.
[ Amaranth speaks again. ] I would be happy to provide instructions in basics, but Cardigan can assist with advanced skills as well.
We also, ah, did some library research to provide some interesting horse facts!
[ Sure enough, Cardigan also seems to have brought a folded sheet of paper along in their jacket pocket, which they proceed to read from, trading off as they go. ]
SOME HORSE FACTS
Because horse’s eyes are on the side of their head, they are capable of seeing nearly 360 degrees at one time.
Horses gallop at around 44 kph, or 27 mph.
The average horse's heart weighs approximately 9 or 10 pounds.
The goddess Demeter—the goddess of fertility, grain, and the pure—had as her image a black mare’s head, and her priestesses were considered her “foals.”
Domestic horses can read human emotions, such as sadness or nervousness, before we’ve even consciously registered them.

Nice to meet you, Amaranth. How did that game turn out for you and LiliS?

—I'm sorry; that... makes plenty of sense. The more recent one is just... on my mind.
It was a fine enough game, as these things seem to go? A bit... scandalous in content, but... [ a slight flush ] ...not entirely unpleasant.

The last game was a sore spot for most people, but I did meet someone on LiliS I am very appreciative towards. A pity life was to hectic to get her name at the time.
