[there is apparently a newbie in team neutral pajamas sitting on one of the crates, just idly playing with what seems to be their shiny new smartphone and seems to look rather comfortable with themselves and is just squinting at all of this without any regard to the fact that the dorm door is locked.
she is absolutely minding her own business, and whether she is sorry for it or not has yet to be seen.

I don't mind odd, but at least there's a reason for it that I can factor in. I might not be able to entirely wrap my head around it, and I think that's partially because I'm new, but the least I can do is be an impartial sounding board, I guess?
