Right now the person in control is "Foxglove." Altogether there are three distinct personalities, at least, passing the reins to the same body between themselves. Foxglove and Marigold don't share memories, and Foxglove isn't aware of Marigold's existence to begin with. I'm still a bit uncertain what causes them to switch.

I placed a leash on her of sorts, in the aftermath, but I couldn't say with faith if it'll hold. All this about "robots" and "programs" is nonsense to me.

Alternate personality stuff usually has roots in trauma. It's not like we have a shortage of that.

She's obedient to commands. I told her never to touch him again, and to inform me immediately if she ever goes near him. But that was to Marigold, and I haven't issued any long-term order to her previously. I couldn't say if it'll hold indefinitely, regardless of time passing or which personality is in control.

Would a contract hold long-term?

It should, if written to do so.

Then we can do that, right? Punishing Foxglove for something Marigold did is like hitting C for something I did.

The contract would be for prevention, ideally. Punishment gets us nowhere in the long run.

Obviously prevention's the most important, but don't think I'm putting punishment off the table. I don't care who she is or whether she's messed up. You don't hurt someone I love and walk away.

The only power of enforcement contracts have are “punishment” or “reward.” Whichever effect is written into place can only take effect after being initiated by an action. So if that action were to be...

Conversely, if the action were established to be “to pursue a line of thought,” it could disable her before that intention could come to fruition.

If you're closer to her than we are, it should probably fall to you to find a contract she'll be agreeable to sign that also ensures the safety of others.
