We're reliable guys.

It’s about Phoenix.

The assailant was a woman who calls herself Marigold. As far as I'm aware, she's been unavailable for a few days now.

for his part E doesn't look surprised by this knowledge at all almost like he ALREADY KNEW who did it. fuckin' spies. He PROMPTS THE CONVO TO CONTINUE, REGARDLESS ]
Unavailable...?

[He doesn't know her so there's no shock here. Just immediately assuming the worst.]

I placed a leash on her of sorts, in the aftermath, but I couldn't say with faith if it'll hold. All this about "robots" and "programs" is nonsense to me.
no subject
What kind of leash?

He doesn't actually care about alternate personality whatever but they're making it sound like it matters so he's going to try to listen and not be the biggest possible butthole.]

She's obedient to commands. I told her never to touch him again, and to inform me immediately if she ever goes near him. But that was to Marigold, and I haven't issued any long-term order to her previously. I couldn't say if it'll hold indefinitely, regardless of time passing or which personality is in control.

Obviously prevention's the most important, but don't think I'm putting punishment off the table. I don't care who she is or whether she's messed up. You don't hurt someone I love and walk away.

[ a little more solid-voiced, with an even tone ]
The only power of enforcement contracts have are “punishment” or “reward.” Whichever effect is written into place can only take effect after being initiated by an action. So if that action were to be...
[ just trails off, looking at a wall before looking more or less back at them ]
Conversely, if the action were established to be “to pursue a line of thought,” it could disable her before that intention could come to fruition.
I did mean to simply write one up myself, really, but shall I defer to the pair of you instead?

You and he certainly don't seem to share much in the way of priorities, the obvious aside.

[And honestly E being sensible is something Crow loves about him but he doesn't want to be sensible right now.]
Which is why I probably shouldn't have anything to do with it. And I'll wait til that Marigold is back, because otherwise Phoenix will just cry. But I'm going to say my piece in person.
no subject
That said, obviously I’m not interested in not letting you talk to her. Or punch her if that’s what you’re after. My main concern is in making sure it doesn’t happen again. I— [a beat so short it basically is not a beat] — doubt Phoenix was the only person Marigold was willing to put in danger, just the most convenient one.
[THEN TURNS TO YASU three person threads are hard ]
But I don’t think it would be a good idea for us to draft the contract without your input or something.
no subject
[ not so much an argument as a heads up ]
To begin with, I had just thought you both ought to know. Planning out some shared course of action wasn't really...
[ but well, we've already started, huh. cuts himself off with a sigh ]
If you have any direction in mind, I'll account for it. Otherwise, I'll write something up myself, and offer it up for criticism if you'd like.

Go for it. I'm not the biggest expert in contract language, even if I thought I could play nice.

That's fine with me. I wanna know what it says but I'm not gonna tell you what you should or shouldn't do with it.
