Karaoke bar mingle, Day 433 evening

[ At the karaoke bar, the rooms are decorated in the style of LiliS, SensitIV, ☆Zrael, Wild City, Avante, and HSS as the "winners" of the latest horrifying game, dubious though the title is. A group is gathering there in search of some mutual comfort after these recent, trying days, with plans for lots of drinks, songs, and plenty of cuddles for whoever wants them -- won't you join them? ]

[ A handwritten sign just at the entrance reads: ]

Rules:
1. No brooding
2. Anyone wanting to engage in "improper behavior" must get permission from Suou Tsukasa

[ -- that last one is probably just a dig at the poor boy for attempting to moralize to immortals, but do with it as you like. ]

[ Everyone who was at Ideal Worlds endgame, knows the three party planners, is in their units, or just heard about this shindig through the robust hell grapevine should consider themselves invited! In fact, you might have been dragged against your will -- they are a rather incorrigible bunch, after all. ]

I believe so. I get at least the flow of energy part. Generation is trickier, but it makes sense that motion makes for energy.

. . . It is too bad that we do not have a proper school. Perhaps I shall be able to recruit your help in garnering support for a school upgrade, one of these days. Because I believe you would be fascinated by all that can be learned when taking proper classes.

I'm a genius, but I also tend to process things different? Makes some stuff harder to learn from others.

Well, that certainly tracks. Every genius I have met is a bizarre weirdo. As though they are aliens from out of this world. [ ZERO MALICE ]

Yet at the same time, they are absolutely gifted in some aspect of their life and bring a unique perspective to the table. That reminds me of Leo-san, who, while he can be exhausting at times, is a person I deeply admire and miss. I am not sure if you ever met him, but I am sure you two would have gotten along on some level.

Wow, you just kind of do that, huh? [More dry sarcasm.] Most of my village would agree. Though not the alien thing, space is....a whole other thing.

I don't think I did. And....hard to say. There are a lot of people here who are smart, but it is...different when you're able to do things others just...can't.

In Leo-san's case he is a composer. He writes beautiful music that has the ability to touch other people's hearts. While none of us can understand his process... I feel mesmerized by his music. Even now, most nights I fall asleep listening to his compositions. They are very soothing.

The apparently accidental condescension.

A musician, huh? That is pretty different. Some art is technical, but when it's a genius....it's like trying to define an emotion.

If I said something impolite, then I shall apologize with the same depth of the ocean. I will be careful to reflect.

[ He turns thoughtful, though. ]

I suppose... that is exactly what Leo-san's music is like. It is as though it has the ability to touch the very soul. Whenever inspiration strikes, he immediately has to write it all down. He is eccentric but there is no denying his talent.

Perhaps you would like to listen to some of his work?

[ Pulling up his phone. He'll play some music for him. It's beautifully composed, sparking joy, as well as a contented peace and serenity. ]

It's so easy to listen to.

I know. Just letting you know you can sound like that. Not everyone is as relaxed about that sort of thing as me.

He is the one who writes all of our music within Knights.

And Knights if the idol group who sings instead of...all this. [Vague handwave.]

The only one I have of us all together is a rather frustrating one. I only know we function well from what I have been told and from what I have heard. As well as from the bit of practice I had with my senpai when they were here before being transferred.

Ouch. That's always rough. When you know things are supposed to be better, but never really get to see it yourself.

Mm. I was only a new member of the unit at the time, and was quite frustrated with our leader. I even voiced my frustrations and complaints about his terrible behavior. But it all backfired spectacularly because he challenged us to a duel meant to wipe us from existence.

Your...leader did? How do you wipe a singing group from existence?

He was the official leader. His goal was to force us to disband, which he had the ability to do. Through using the resources and rules within our school, he planned to form another unit in order to compete against us.

If we lost, we were to disband immediately. If we won, he would do whatever it was we wanted.

I wish that I knew! The memory ends with his ridiculous demands after thoroughly insulting me.

And what grates me more than anything, is that he wasn't wrong in his assessment that I had not performed all that well that day. B-But it was because he was watching me while smirking from the audience! I- I wasn't really holding everyone back, surely...

You were new. And he wanted to wreck your unit and putting pressure on you when new.

Whether or not you were holding people back doesn't matter. The reason you work with people with more experience is so you can learn and get help to be better. And they take you on because they can teach you to be great, but that takes time.

Well... it is all in the past. While I still have no idea why he decided to challenge us, or what his reasoning was, he eventually made me the king, as I am now the new leader of our unit.

So surely that means we must have won? Or perhaps he never wanted us to lose in the first place. Quite honestly, I cannot ever understand his intentions or where he is coming from. Because he thinks in a manner that seems to lack all sense and logic to me.

He is like an uncontrollable three-year-old.
